Phonak CROS / BiCROS Fitting Guide Reminder 1. CROS: Use in this configuration when client has one dead ear and one normal hearing ear. 2. BiCROS: Use in this configuration when client has one dead ear and one ear with aidable hearing loss. 1 Fitting CROS System (example audiogram opposite): ■ Link up the hearing aids to the Normal side (Right in this case) and CROS system to the dead side (Left in this case) on Hi-Pro or NoahLink. Alternatively iCube can be used. ■ Hit Connect and follow the on screen prompts. Ensure that the hearing aid and CROS are on the correct sides. Click Continue when the opposite screen is seen. ■ Click “Create new fitting” and continue if this is a first fit. Select CROS mode for this case scenario and click Continue. Phonak CROS / BiCROS Fitting Guide ■ Match up all the parameters in the Acoustic parameters screen. As this is a normal hearing ear, most likely to be slim tubes and open domes being used. In the case of a CRT product, its most likely to be a standard receiver and open dome ■ Run the Feedback Test. ■ Do a final save to the hearing aid and database. CROS Note: 1. The CROS side while connected up to the software. This only becomes available when powered up with batteries. 2. The Phonak CROS does not have a start up jingle. Wearers will either hear the CROS connected alert or the CROS disconnected alert. 2 Fitting BiCROS System (example audiogram opposite): ■ Link up the hearing aid to the aidable ears side (Right in this case) and the CROS system to the dead ears side (Left in this example) on Hi-Pro or NoahLink. Alternatively iCube can be used. ■ Hit Connect and follow the on screen prompts. Ensure that the hearing aid and CROS are on the correct sides. Click Continue when the opposite screens are seen. Phonak CROS / BiCROS Fitting Guide ■ Click “Create new fitting” and continue if this is a first fit. If the client has already been fitted with the hearing aid you may choose “use fitting from hearing instrument”. ■ Ensure BiCROS mode is selected. ■ Match up all the parameters (appropriate to the hearing loss on the aidable ear) in the Acoustic parameters screen. ■ Run the Feedback Test. ■ As this is a BiCROS fitting (microphones active on both sides), the microphones have to be balanced. This can be done in the Basic Tuning Screen by selecting CROS/BiCROS Settings as seen opposite. ■ Click Next Opposite Phonak CROS / BiCROS Fitting Guide ■ When the opposite screen is seen, the client will hear a jingle in the hearing aid. Shortly thereafter, an ascending tone will be heard indicating that the CROS unit has connected. ■ When the opposite screen is seen, the BiCROS is active and you can ask you client to make sound level judgments on sounds originating from the right versus those from the left. If sounds from one side feel louder, click adjust. ■ If adjust is clicked, the opposite screen will be seen. This enables you to balance the two microphones. Be aware that no audio comes through at this point. You have to make the adjustment and then go back to the test. ■ When the clients happy with the balance between the 2 microphones click “Finish”. ■ Do a final save to the hearing aid and database. Once all is saved, you can disconnect and power the devices up with batteries. ■ Once both devices are powered up, the customer will hear the following confirmation tones if the CROS unit is connected or disconnect respectively.
