The Handa Gote company deals with archaeology of the family, the so called small
histories. The Clouds story begins in 1938, when a family moves into a house. The
spectator follows the ordinary life of this family which, like the lives of thousands of other
families, was influenced first by the Nazi occupation and straight afterwards by the
Communist regime.

Ján Rozner – Peter Pavlac: Seven Days to Funeral
directed by: Ľubomír Vajdička
www.divadlomartin.sk
An extraordinary scenic form of a key Slovak novel of the second half of the 20th century.
The storyline of the performance is formed by the death of Rozner's wife, translator Zora
Jesenská banned after 1968, and the following seven days to her funeral. The comments
on the sequence of events are an excellent survey of the social and political context of
the incoming normalization of the 1970s.
Pôtoň Theatre, Bátovce, Slovakia
Michal Ditte: Poverty
directed by: Iveta Ditte Jurčová
www.poton.sk
A brutal story of social, emotional and moral decline of an ordinary Slovak family
arousing fear, yet also hope and sudden need for solidarity and humanity. The production
identifies and relativises the good and the evil in a monumentally confined scenic design
composed of empty fridges.
Aréna Theatre, Bratislava, Slovakia
Martin Čičvák: Kukura
directed by: Rastislav Ballek
www.divadloarena.sk
A theatrical play inspired directly by the work, attitudes and personality of actor and
theatre director Juraj Kukura criticizes sharply the current situation in Slovak culture,
where artistic considerations are increasingly marginalised, while other factors are
gaining importance.
