Litterati: Selected photographs
SeptembeR 5
from the digital landfill 12:00pm - 2:00pm
Join us to celebrate the opening of a very special art installation at the EcoCenter. Litterati is an international movement that turns garbage into art by encouraging people to upload photos of litter to Instagram using the #litterati hashtag
(then throwing the trash away). These photos are added to a curiously beautiful
digital landfill of cleaned-up garbage, turning trash into treasure while inspiring
others to do the same. Come out to hear a talk by Litterati founder Jeff
Kirschner, enjoy light refreshments, browse the exhibition, and maybe even add
your own works of art to the digital landfill.
Stop by the EcoCenter for a double dose of
FREE Science Saturday events on September 12!

September 12
global causes, local solutions 12:00Pm - 3:00pm
Experience the intricacies of San Francisco Bay from the comfort of dry land
with the EcoCenter at Heron’s Head Park. Join us for an afternoon of hands-on
science experiments, conservation activities, and more while learning about real
world steps you can take to help prevent climate change.
12pm-1pm: Protecting Our Plankton
As the base of the ocean’s food web, healthy plankton populations ensure
there’s always enough food to go around. Investigate the role these intriguing
organisms play in the food web, measure and observe the changing chemistry
of the ocean, and look for potential solutions to slow the effects of ocean
acidification on these mighty marine organisms. Recommended for a 6th – 8th
grade audience.
2pm-3pm: Climate Stewards
What’s happening with our climate and how can we take care of it? Explore
climate change basics, how animals and ecosystems are being affected, and
what we can all do to make a positive difference in our communities. Recommended for a 9th – 12th grade audience.
