The Appointment of: Dr. Nesrine Rizk
It is with great pleasure that I announce the appointment of Dr. Nesrine Rizk as Instructor of
Clinical Medicine, subspecialty Infectious Diseases, in the Department of Internal Medicine.
After graduation with an MD degree from AUB in 2001, Dr. Rizk did a year of internship in
Internal Medicine at AUBMC and moved to the US to complete 3 years of Internal Medicine
Residency (2002-2005) at Metro Health Medical Center/Case Western Reserve University in
Cleveland, Ohio. She then completed two years of fellowship in Infectious Diseases at the
University Hospitals of Cleveland/Case Western Reserve University plus one additional year
of fellowship training in HIV/AIDS Medicine at the same institution. Dr. Rizk became
American Board certified and joined the faculty at the Yale-affiliated Cornell Scott-Hill
Health Center in New Haven, CT, and served as Medical Director and then Program Director
of the HIV program. She was also Chairperson of the Infection Control Committee. She
maintained active affiliation with the ID Division at Yale and was member of the Yale AIDS
Program and active medical staff at Yale New Haven Medical Center.
Dr. Rizk joins the medical group practice of the ID Division and will participate in clinical
duties as well as in the educational and research activities within the Division and the
Department. Within the Division, she is charged particularly to oversee the HIV/AIDS
curriculum and clinical training program of the fellows in outpatient and inpatient settings.
Dr. Rizk has been active in clinical research having contributed to several publications related
to research in HIV/AIDS and inflammation. At AUBMC, Dr. Rizk is expected to continue to
develop her research portfolio in a similar direction.
