Course Description:
The purpose of this course is to familiarize the participant with guidelines relative to managing the HIV/AIDS
patient. A basic explanation and history of the disease as well as modes of transmission and brief statistical
data will be discussed. The course will also contain an overview of past and current AIDS research, drug
therapy and in office precautions.
Objectives:
1. Demonstrate the scope of HIV/AIDS in the world today as it relates to the eye care professional.
2. Describe the AIDS virus as well as previous and current drug therapy associated with HIV/AIDS
3. Discuss possible routes of transmission and in-office precautions
