“Extraction and Preservation of Aloe-Vera Juice without using any Preservative”
Objective:
Aloe-vera is now known to have various medicinal and cosmetic properties. A wide variety of
commercial products are available in the market, but these products have chemical preservatives
added in them which are found to have certain side effects. Our objective is to extract and
preserve the aloe-vera juice for further use without adding any preservative in it.
Summary:
Aloe leaf contains over 75 nutrients, 200 active compounds including 20 minerals, 18 amino
acids and 12 vitamins. It also has high enzyme content. The useful parts of aloe are the gel and
latex. The gel is obtained from the cells in the center of the leaf; and the latex is obtained from
the cells just beneath the leaf skin.
It has been scientifically proved that Aloe Vera:

Contains constituents that accelerate wound healing.
Helps to reduce inflammation, pain and itching.
Is a wonderful moisturizing agent and penetrate.
Is naturally hypo-allergic and about the same pH as skin.
Was recently proven to stimulate body’s immune system.
Procedure for juice extraction
The raw material (leaves) will be washed and cut down from edges to fed to the processing unit.
The juice extraction is carried out in a power driven machine. Thus, leaves are continuously
squeezed and extracted Squeezed liquor is collected in front and the extracted leaves at the rear
end of the machine. Residual juice from the squeezed leaves is also drained and collected. The
viscous clear transparent juice is then passed through a filtration-cum-homogenizing unit to get
clear, water white, transparent juice. The juice will be heated to 60-70 degree Celcius and then
rapidly cooled down so as to kill the microorganisms and hence there will be no need of any
chemical preservative or agent.
