This is in a Chinese temple. The man in white is holding a joss stick praying. The woman in front of him is
planting an incense stick into a large censer. People in Taiwan usually do this during Chinese New Year, a time
when they clean up the house, gather together and visit temples to pray for health, wealth and a fortunate year.

day in the winter. While some people wear masks, others don’t. The masks are to protect them from the polluted
air and it can also keep them warm. In addition, people on the scooters are all wearing helmets. In Taiwan it is
obligatory to do so because you will be fined if a police catch you not wearing a helmet when riding on a
motorcycle.
