Examination Board: AQA
The course provides ample opportunity for discussion of the place of religion in the modern world. It would appeal to
anyone with historical, linguistic or religious/philosophical interests but also to those keen to relate scientific discoveries
to religious theory.
AS Level Examination (two papers)
An introduction to Ethics and Religion by considering ethical theories in relation to the issues of abortion and
euthanasia.
The Philosophy and Science module tries to reconcile scientific theories about creation with the accounts found in
religious writings and considers some arguments about the existence of God, miracles and the implications of quantum
mechanics.
A2 Level Examination (two further papers)
3B Philosophy of Religion

4C Ways of Moral Decision-Making
This includes religious and secular perspectives about moral decision-making and the application of these theories and
beliefs to both medical and business ethics.
Entry Requirements:
If GCSE Religious Studies has been taken a Grade A is required. A willingness to consider different issues from a
number of viewpoints is equally important. For those who have not undertaken a GCSE course, a minimum of a Grade
A in either English Language or English Literature is essential.
