ADVANCED THEATRE 2016-2017
Advanced Theatre is a full year class designed for the serious and committed
theatre student.
Trimester I: We work on ensemble building skills beginning with blank
scripts and then progressing to scene work. These scenes will be performed
for prospective students during the Middle School Open House. We will
then rehearse a One-Act piece to be performed during the last week of the
December. Details as to location and time will be emailed at the beginning
of November.
Trimester II: Movie making! Working in groups the class designs, shoots
and edits short videos. We will then begin to research, develop, and rehearse
a full length piece set during an historical time period or dealing with a
current social issue.
Trimester III: The class moves to double periods this quint as we do final
rehearsals and performances of our spring production which will be
performed sometime in May.
CLASS EXPECTATIONS
o Actors and Stage Managers are expected to work co-operatively
in our collaborations and keep track of their scripts and rehearsal
props and costumes.
o The rehearsal room needs to be place where everyone feels
supported so bullying or any kind of negative remarks or
behavior will not be tolerated.
o There is a Cell Phone Free Zone in effect in all of the theatres.
Students are expected to place their phones either in their
backpacks or in the cell phone box.
o The ensemble needs to respect each other, faculty, others’
belongings and the items in the space.
o Students will be encouraged to push themselves and take risks
but enjoy the work!
Detailed information about the plays and the schedule can be found on the
Advanced Theatre Oba page about six weeks before production. You can
reach me through email or by calling my cell if you have any questions or
concerns.
Thank you! See you at the shows!
