Kings College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, Denmark Hill London SE5 9RS.
Department of Clinical Neurophysiology (EEG/EMG/EP)
Highly Specialist Clinical Physiologist (Neurophysiology Band 7)
The Neurophysiology Department provides a responsive service of
Neurophysiological testing for adults and children of all ages as out-patients, as well
as an active in-patient service which includes referrals from other tertiary Centres
nationally.
A Satellite service is provided by King’s to Medway Hospital in Kent. Staff from
Kings undertake duties on a rotational basis. In addition there is a growing demand
for off site, emergency Neurophysiology services( EEG & EMG), in which staff
participate on a rotational basis.
We currently require a Clinical Physiologist (Band 7), with several years of proven
experience in all modalities of Clinical Neurophysiology, who is keen, responsible
and motivated to work in a busy department undertaking all modalities of testing
which will include EEG (ambulant/non-ambulant/portable), Nerve Conduction studies
Evoked Potentials, AFT, IP & Home Telemetry, Electrocorticography and Intraoperative monitoring, This part of the service also requires the availability of staff to
provide On-Call and unsociable hours of working (i.e. weekends, early mornings and
late evenings).
It is essential that you are a qualified Clinical Physiologist-Neuro with several years
of post graduate experience and to have the capability to share the responsibility for
the day-to-day running of the department by liasing with the existing senior Clinical
Physiologists (Band 7 & Band 8).
The department has close links with academic dept of epilepsy with a known history
of collaborative research activities, and has a newly established research structure
allowing Clinical Physiologist to participate in research activities alongside clinical
duties.
It will involve collaborative working with Senior Clinicians and academic staff and
due to the nature of the role there will a requirement for occasional unsocial hours
work. You will be self motivated and have a proven track record of working under
own initiative with limited direct supervision. An analytical and enquiring approach to
work as well as effective planning and organisational skills are required. This is a
forward thinking department that actively encourages continuous professional
development and publication and presentations of research results.
You should demonstrate good verbal and communication skills in English as well as
possessing an HNC/NVQ in Physiological Measurement or other relevant degree in a
Neuroscience topic (BSc in Clinical NeuroPhysiology). Experience of working with a
wide range of patients including children and people with learning disabilities or
psychiatric disorder is essential. Computer literacy would be an advantage.
