The extensive use of electrical power represents a significant step forward in the move towards more environmentally-friendly aircraft by decreasing CO2, NOx and noise emissions. It will significantly reduce the Direct Operation Costs. The shipset of Thales electrical component draws on new technologies and meets the energy requirements of a business aircraft with the highest levels of comfort and performance as well as the ability to start latest-generation engines that consume less fuel and produce less pollution. The shipset includes two starter-generators for the main engines, one starter-generator for the auxiliary power unit, three electronic regulators, one electronic starter converter and three transformer rectifier units. Primary AC Starter-Generator functions are: to electrically start engines to generate the main electrical power for the aircraft network AC Starter-Generator is a 3-stage, brushless, synchronous machine. Main stage is made of salient or non salient pole. Pilot exciter stage is made of one Permanent Magnet Generator (PMG), one exciter connected to rotating diode bridge. Associated to Start Box Unit, Thales AC Starter-Generators are optimized to supply maximum starting torque.
