Please be able to identify the following documents: Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus,
Numbers, Deuteronomy. Know where they are located, what their status is for
practicing Jews, and very generally speaking (1-3 sentences), what they are
about. You do not need to read them, except for the assigned handouts.
Please be able to briefly identify the following characters, and the type of story
and/or cultural theme of the story in which they appear: Adam & Eve, Cain and
Abel, Noah, Abraham and Sarah, Moses.
Also, be sure that you understand the basic process (and the problems) by which
the Genesis and Exodus documents you read in class were assembled. This
information is in your class notes from 11/9 and following.
