Light is significant in all the major religions
of the world. In this presentation I will look
at its significance to Christians, Muslims
and Hindus.
In Christianity
In Christianity God is portrayed as light.
Christians are also said to be the light of the
world. They are encouraged to let their light
shine by loving everyone regardless of gender ,
race or age.
In Islam
Muslims see light as a symbol of
knowledge and faith. The Holy Qur'an
describes God as the "Light of the heavens
and earth."
In Hinduism
The largest festival celebrated in
Hinduism is called Deepawali, or more
commonly known as Diwali. Diwali is know
as the festival of lights.
The festival of lights is celebrated by the
lighting of many candles or lamps. Here
are some examples of how people
celebrate the festival of lights.
