Report Summary
A scale is a group of eight note which is arrange in a particular order. Every Major scale
has eight tones which is called an octave. The numbers 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 are called degrees. While
the musical alphabet is A B C D E FG and the first and eighth note have the same name for
example (C D E F G A B C). Also in every major scale there are half steps and whole steps, the
half steps are called semitones while the whole steps are called tones. Half steps occur from the
3rd and 4th and 7th and 8th tones. However, each scale has a Key signature, G major has a F#
while F major has a B flat. There are three types of accidental musical symbols: 1) # this is called
a sharps which raises the pitch of a note by a semitone,2) flats which lowers the pitch of a note
by a semitone,3) Natural which return the note to its original pitch. Accidentals are placed
immediately in front of a note that they affect. Whenever they are seen at the beginning of a
staff, the give directions about the sharp, or flats to be use in a particular musical composition
and are called Key signature.
