POSITION DESCRIPTION
Marketing Manager
(Maternity Leave Contract: 12 month)
Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Job Summary
This part-time role (24 hours per week) manages the marketing team to develop and implement
strategies to promote Playgroup WA Inc (PGWA) through all forms of media, events, and
resources, as well as public relations, securing sponsorship and developing partnerships.
Duties and Essential Job Functions
Leadership and Coordination

Provide effective leadership and support for marketing team in their different roles
 Accountable for marketing team’s compliance with organisation policy and
procedures

Recruitment, induction, professional development and performance management of
the marketing team

Support the CEO in the development of organisational policies and procedures

Be an active member of PGWA’s management team

Develop, implement and monitor marketing strategies to achieve PGWA’s
organisational objectives
 Accountable for delivery within contractual agreements
 Accountable for delivery on budget and schedule
 Accountable for development and implementation of the Marketing team’s
annual operational plan

Significantly contribute to the development of funding and other submissions
Planning and Reporting

Contribute to the development of strategic and annual plans

Implement data collection processes and analyse data across all programs

Develop and manage team budgets

Prepare reports for the PGWA Board, the Chief Executive Officer, and other
stakeholders

Identify external sources of funding and sponsorship to enable PGWA to deliver
services to families and children aged 0 – 5 years

Analytical evaluation of survey data
Event Management

Management of Playgroup WA’s two flagship events with the World’s Biggest
Playgroup Day to be hosted at Elizabeth Quay in March 2016 and the Annual Fun
Day at Whiteman Park in November. Plus some smaller events including marketing,
PR, site management, handling of sponsors, exhibitors and agencies.
External Networks

Develop and maintain strategic relationships relevant external organisations

Promote PGWA to the wider community

Represent PGWA at appropriate meetings and forums
Other Duties

Undertake other duties as required by the Chief Executive Officer
Selection Criteria
Essential

Experience supervising staff

Experience in the development, implementation and evaluation of marketing plans

Demonstrated extensive experience in event coordination that includes planning,
coordination and delivery of large and small events within budget

Excellent interpersonal, liaison and networking skills

Creatively driven

Affinity for content management and development

Demonstrated experience of using digital media to achieve marketing goals

Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills

Strong organisation, administration and time management skills

Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite of products

Possession of a can do attitude, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability
Desirable

Experience working in a similar role for a minimum of five years

General understanding of issues affecting families and young children aged 0 – 5 years

Experience with sourcing sponsorship and donations
Other Requirements
 Working with Children Check
 National Police Clearance
 Current driver’s license
 Reliable vehicle (a mileage allowance will be paid)
 Some weekend and after hours work will be required for the events
