The Big Ask is Friends of the Earth’s
campaign on climate change.
It encourages people to ask questions
and take action.
Last year The Big Ask gathered
amazing momentum. In 2006,
businesses, celebrities and more
than 100,000 members of the
public backed The Big Ask and
an overwhelming number of MPs
supported our Climate Change Bill.
The Government had to listen and
in November announced plans for a
climate change law.
We want decisive action from the
UK Government to put us at the
forefront of the effort to tackle
climate change and to inspire other
countries to act. That’s
why we’re calling for a law with
annual targets to reduce the
UK’s carbon emissions.
This year we have a unique
opportunity to make sure the
climate law is strong enough to
make a real difference. We can
cut our carbon emissions using a
mixture of energy-saving measures,
clean and safe energy sources and
innovations in industry. We need a
law that will allow these solutions to
flourish.

The Big Ask’s success so far is
down to massive support from
people like you. Our next job is to
make sure the Government hears
us as it makes important decisions
about the climate law.
