Equation Balancing Classwork
Directions: Use coefficients (small whole numbers) on each line to balance the chemical equations
so that the total number of each type of atom is the same on left and right of arrow. Remember that
the coefficients are multiplied by each atom and subscript in the formula which the coefficient
precedes. For example, 5H2O indicates 10 hydrogens and 5 oxygens. A subscript, like the 2 in H2O,
applies only to the atom or parenthetical group of atoms directly before it.
Beside each equation, identify reaction type: SR, DR, S, D, C (see reference for descriptions)
