Transcript
The human ear is made up of three main parts; the outer ear, the middle ear and the inner ear.
The outer ear consists of the pinna, the ear canal and eardrum.
The middle ear consists of the ossicles and the eardrum.
The inner ear consists of the cochlea and the auditory (or hearing) nerve which is connected
to the brain.
The ossicles in the middle ear, is made up of three tiny bones commonly called the hammer,
anvil and stirrup. The stirrup happens to be the smallest bone in the human body and is less
than 3mm long.
Humans are able to hear frequencies in the range from 20Hz through to 20kHz.
Permanent hearing damage can be caused by excessive noise above 85 decibels.
