to garner support for their political

Propaganda
• Hitler was so convinced of the power of
propaganda, that in his book, Mien Kampf
(written 1925), he dedicates two entire
chapters on the effectiveness of its use to
achieve political and social power.
Elections
• In order for Hitler to have any influence on
Germany, he first had to get elected. He
did this by presenting himself as…
– savior of the nation
– uniting Germans
– and ensuring prosperity

• In order for Hitler to explain Germany’s
despair and poverty, he had to place the
blame somewhere:
– Jewish people
– People of other political affiliations
– Surrounding countries
– And eventually anyone who was not
completely on board with the Nazi party and
ideals

scandals), prostitution, terror,
