DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM
INTRODUCTION
The advent of cancer care is a large and complex project taking cognizance of its existence in the UK and US.
This work have delved into so many issues concerning cancer, (e.g.: lack of awareness, lack of wherewithal,
lack of access to the online resources, etc.), and was able to find out loads of problems that need serious
attention. Cancer is a killer disease that forces many researchers to work tirelessly in an effort to curtail its
spreading tentacles. The emergence of genome research with regards to: when genes are ignited; how these
genes are ignited; and what results have yet been arrived at. Federal medical centre katsina (FMCK)
recommended hundreds of ideas and posed them for consideration to improve responsiveness to the individual
needs of patients throughout their cancer consultancy. Many cancer patients are suffering tightly enough in our
public hospital for their consultation. Constitute problems too. More often by government lack of free
medication of cancer and more dies to the society, a very long queue of consultation in our hospital. Which
lead to suffering of patients which makes them discourage of early coming to the hospital when any cancer
alert has been detected by a patient.
BACKGROUND OF THE PROBLEM
An online cancer consultation is a site which will focus on improving timeliness and ease of access to available
information of cancer worldwide. Thus, all this could be done by making an extensive research on cancer
develop means of erasing it completely from the surface/ from our environs. In Africa fewer efforts were made
towards this development, and this work intends to be one of the pioneer researches to spear-head the course.
The inability to read and write by most of our people in Africa, their poor background of internet, their
incapability to comprehend to the developments in terms of medication in the health-care units today, the lack
of funds to purchase the necessary medications and to be able to relate to the wider world, etc. constitutes a
problem too. More often, the food we eat, the water we drink, the environment we live in, lack of exercises to
our body, the manner at which we lay our day-to-day activities all have ties to what happens to our health.
Rigorous campaigns to awake the commoners by the Governments and stakeholders is imperative, so as to be
able to bring everyone on the loop and to make the process a success.This piece of work will engineer the
production of a consultancy platform at which most of the above mentioned key issues will be tackled and
eventually our people could be free from this killer disease.
STATEMENTOF THE PROBLEM
Presently in most of our public hospitals, Federal medical centre katsina state (FMCK) as a case study, there is
the problem of too many patients queuing up in order to receive treatment. This result in most of the patients
not been attended to properly or even end up not receiving any attention from the doctors due to the doctors
beinginsufficient or enough to be able to attend to the overcrowded patients. Also people suffering from cancer
find it difficult to get convenient information relevant to their diseases at the right time, which leads to
aggravation of the illness. Moreover, some hospital administrative officers do not really understand the
simplicity, speed, accuracy and usefulness of online consultation in hospitals.
AIM AND OBJECTIVES
AIM
The aim of this project is to design and develop an Online Cancer Diagnostic System capable of investigating
through interaction to provide first aid treatment to patients prior to specialist's consultation. The proposed
system gives prescriptions based on the available cancer symptoms and stores patient's details as well as
retrieves them as and when required.
THE MAIN OBJECTIVES
1. To investigate the emerging technologies in cancer treatment and examine some of their challenges
and limitations.
2. To design and develop an Online Cancer Diagnostic System that gives prescriptions through humanmachine interaction.
3. To create a database that manages cancer symptoms and stores patient's details as well as retrieves
them as and when required
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY







To reduce the number of visits by a patient to the hospital for consultation even on the day of his/her
appointment by getting it online
To provide an electronic data base for keeping record of a patients.
To come with new way of patients registration online.
To provide a means of online payment by patients (i.e. online transaction) this would serve as his/her
registration fee.
To provide extensive healthcare system in globe, for the purpose of proper consult of patients.
Create awareness to all management concern, about the significance of the use this system in
promoting their job.
Provide means of easy access of record generated from the processing of the mass of data collected
concerning an entity or patient in the hospital
SCOPE AND LIMITATION
This study is based on how individuals or patients with cancer problems or any other related disease could
receive online prescription or instruction regarding their ailment. Therefore, this work is concern with building
a software which will be design to empower patients to participate in the management of their care once cancer
treatment is completed, including ensuring access to pre-treatment follow‐up services. It will also assist
individuals in understanding their needs, offer education to address these needs and provide them with a care
summary and follow‐up plan that addresses both medical and psychosocial needs – known as a Wellness Care
Plan and also, the software would enable one to search for convenient information related to his/her cancer
diseases condition. Thus, this software will promote healthy lifestyle and expand access to healthcare system
and counseling via the internet.
However, in any academic study or research, they usually arise some constraints or problems faced in the
course of the study which may limit the smooth execution of the study. Since this study is concerned with
building a software, it therefore required some hardware. Among the hardware it would require, include at
least 750MHZ of processor, 128MB of RAM, 40GB of hard disk space and internet connections
recommended. Therefore, the availability of such hardware could limit the smooth execution of the project.
Also the problem of finance in terms of cost of the hardware, transportation and insufficient time for executing
the project could also limit the smooth execution of the project. However, not all these constraints can be
mentioned, the ones mentioned above are those that cannot be avoided.
SUMMARY
The project of online cancer consultation system is design purposely to eliminate most of problems
encountered in the management of cancer patient in the hospitals. However, this project is to come up with a
better, efficient and easiest Way of Medical Consultation Online.
