Welcome to Grade 3B Spelling
Dear parents:
In order to help your child achieve his/her potential through practice,
review and preparation, the spelling program schedule is as follows:
1. Unit 1-36 Spelling Words are included in this handout. Please keep
these handy as they are for you and your child to refer to. Please
practice unit words ahead of our schedule, as the acceptable standard
on these tests are a minimum score of 12/15. Weekly words will not
be written into agendas unless students know they will have trouble
with a word and they want extra practice.
2. There will be no pre-tests for these words. Students will be working
with these words throughout the week in their spelling lesson.
3. Students will be given extra words (never more than 5) from our
Word Wall each week. These will be written into their agendas
early in the week. Students will be expected to study the words
from the Word Wall and from the lesson during the week.
4. During the course of the week, students will be expected to spell the
words from our lesson correctly in all other writing. Students will
be expected to spell the words from our Word Wall correctly all
year, as they will have them posted on the wall. Any errors in
spelling from this list of words, and they will have the letters “WW”
written beside them.
5. Post-tests are on Fridays. Spelling text booklets will be sent home
on Fridays and will be expected back with a signature from a
parent/guardian on Monday.
6. Review tests are every sixth unit. Students will be expected to
review the words from their agendas that they had trouble with for
all the five previous lessons.
Thank you for your cooperation in assisting your child to become a
successful speller of grade three words.
Sincerely,
Mrs. C. Bast
