Global Amphibian Decline
What Humans do to decrease
BioDiversity in General

What’s an amphibian
•
•
•
•
4 digits on front legs
Breathes through lungs and skin as adult
Smooth, moist skin
Frogs, skinks, salamanders
Why Amphibians are important:
• Bioindicators (tell us about water and land
ecosystems)
• Have medicinal value (antibiotics, painkillers,
anti-fungus)
Role in ecosystem
• Predators and Prey
They are a true representation of
BioDiversity
So what’s the Problem?
• They are disappearing!!!!!!!!
• More than 600 species have gone etinct
within the last decade.
• A third of existing amphibian species are in
trouble (vulnerable or endangered status).
