This leaflet has been written to help prepare
you for your visit to the NHNN Day Care Unit
located on the 2nd Floor of the Royal London
Hospital for Integrated Medicine (RLHIM),
Queen Square.
On the day of your admission
Your admission letter will give you specific
details about your stay and what time you
should come in. Remember to bring all your
current medications (we cannot supply these
for you), your admission letter and any
personal belongings you may need during
your stay. You are responsible for your
belongings on the unit so do not bring
valuables with you. We advise you to wear
comfortable clothing for your visit.
Getting to the hospital
Unless you have a medical condition that
prevents you from using public transport, you
will need to make your own travel
arrangements. Travel information can be
found on the back of this leaflet. Please
check with Transport for London or our
website before leaving home to avoid delays.
When you arrive at the hospital make your
way to the reception desk on the Day Care
Unit.
On the Day Care Unit
When you arrive on the unit a nurse will be
allocated to look after you. A nurse and a
doctor will assess you and you will be told
about any tests and investigations that have
been planned. Our unit is open from 7am to
8pm and all tests, investigations and
procedures occur during these hours.
Giving consent
Before any treatment, investigation or
procedure you will be asked for your
consent. We will explain the relevant risks,
benefits and alternatives so you can make an
informed decision. If you have any
questions, or you are unsure about anything
that has been said to you, do not hesitate to
ask the person who is treating or examining
you.
Refreshments and meals
All refreshments and meals are provided. A
hot meal is served at 12noon and 6pm and a
refreshment trolley is available at all times on
the unit for patients. Let us know if you have
any special dietary requirements and please
do not bring your own cooked food without
speaking to us first. Visitors are welcome to
use the hospital restaurant and café.

health and other details such as your name,
address, date of birth and GP details.

when we process this information. To find
