The Planets
Neptune is the eighth planet from the Sun,
it is also the furthest.
The planet was discovered on
September 23, 1846.
It takes 165 years to orbit the Sun.
Neptune can be not be seen with the
naked eye.
The planet is slightly bigger than its
near twin Uranus. Neptune is surrounded
by ring arcs and has 13 moons, the biggest moon is called Triton.
Neptune is named after the Roman god of the sea.
It has the strongest winds of all the planets in the solar system,
some winds reaching over 1000 mph.
Planet Neptune is one of the coldest planets in the solar system
because of its distance from the Sun.
Neptune is made of the same gases and ices as Uranus, and both
planets are known as 'ice giants'.
