(1) “LS1L” denotes cre-dependent
(2) hEF1α vectors are for long term retrograde studies. I have recently made an
improvement in my packaging protocol that increases the titers of the retrograde vectors 3to-4-fold. As I shift the viruses I offer as aliquots to the new protocol , I will give them the
designation “HT”.
(3) For first time orders of any of the optogenetic viruses, including those containing IREScre or IRE-flpo, laboratory PIs please contact Dr. Karl Deisseroth and Charu
Ramakrishnan for an MTA
(4) Certain cre-and flpo-dependent AAV viruses that can be used in combination with my
retrograde HSV viruses may be requested directly from Dr. Karl Deisseroth and Charu
Ramakrishnan The PI of your lab should make that request, and an MTA will be

ALL TVA and rabies viruses will be provided at 5X titer in 20 ul aliquots. For all that coexpress GFP or mCherry, a tube of dilution buffer will be included in the shipment in case you
find it necessary to dial down the expression of the fluorescent protein a bit.
