Movement of the chest that brings air into the
body through the lungs
Respiration
Chemical reaction used by cells to release
energy from glucose; produces Co2 and H2O as
waste
Parts:
Nose: air enters body  nasal cavities which are lined with cilla
Pharynx- tube-like passageway between food and nose- also used
by food/liquid (Contains larynx- contains vocal cords)
Trachea- tube help open by rings of cartilage called wide pipe; lined
with cilla and mucous
Epiglottis- small flap of tissue that folds over trachea with prevents food or liquid from entering lungs
Bronchi - passages that direct air into the lugs
Lungs- major organs of respiratory system
Bronchi go into lungs and branch off.
Bronchiloes- smallest tubes of bronchi that end in clusters called alveolitiny sacs of lung tissue specialized for the movement of gases between air and blood

Rib muscles and diaphragm contract
Chest expands
