Number of Periods:
Five periods per week for one year
High School Credit:
Algebra 1 is a state mandated course for high school graduation. Students
enrolled in this course will need to pass the New Jersey End-of-Course
Algebra 1 Exam given around May.

Students will be able to…
 simplify numerical expressions using Order of Operations
 solve open sentences using a replacement set
 perform the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and
square root on real numbers
 solve single variable equations/inequalities using the properties of equality
 solve absolute value equations/inequalities and compound inequalities
 solve problems involving proportions and percent of change
 solve formulas for a given variable
 solve problems involving weighted averages
Linear Functions
Students will be able to…
 find the inverse of function
 represent relations as a set of ordered pairs, tables, mappings, and graphs
 find the range of a function given a set of domain
 graph linear equations using a table
 use substitution to evaluate a problem involving function notation
 write an equation to represent a given sequence/pattern
 calculate the slope of a linear equation
