It would have been harder for life to evolve today than on Primitive Earth There are very few places on Earth today that are like Primitive Earth. [3 minutes] DO NOW: What are vestigial structures? Give an example of one. [2 minutes] Discussion of do now. [30 minutes] Lesson: Students will learn about evolution and the origin of life. [15 minutes] Using Evidence Four Corners. As a follow up, have students write an exit slip about what they have learned from the activity. [5 minutes] Closing/ Summary and discussion of homework. Before this activity has taken place, students would have learned about evidence of evolution It would take about 15 minutes. This activity would take place at the end of the period and be a review of what was covered today. After this lesson, students will learn about evolution by natural selection and modern evolutionary theory. This is a standard Using Evidence Four Corners Activity. This activity could be followed by a Mini-Paragraph Writing Activity to include a writing component.
