student example fall essay for presentations, level 3
My presentation today is on butterflies. Doing research topics, we
talked about insects. I choose butterflies because I like them. I
wanted to know stuff about parts of a butterfly, the life of a
butterfly, what they eat, where they live, how many different types of
butterflies there are. I even wanted to know if a moth is a butterfly?
During my search I found information for my presentation. I
discovere that a butterfly has a long nose called a proboscis that is
used to get food from flowers. I found out that their wings have
three parts, and their body has a head, thorax, and abdomen.
I discovered a butterfly has four stages to life. The first was the
egg, the second the larva, the third stage is the pupa, and the last
stage is the adult butterfly. A butterfly can live from one week nine
months.
Butterflies eat leaves and plants as a caterpillar and nectar from
flowers when adults. I learned to attract butterflies to my yard, and
want to plant flowers and plants that will attract them next summer.
I wanted to know if a moth and butterfly were the same thing. I
was surprised to find out they are not. A moth rests with its wings
open, and a butterfly rests with its wings closed. I also found out
that a moth has a feathery antennae while a butterfly has straight
antenna with little nobs at the ends.
In closing, I am glad I choose to research butterflies.
