Learning Objectives for Upper Limb
1) Identify and describe the bones and joints of the upper
extremity including pectoral girdle
2) Identify origin, insertion, function and innervation of the
muscles of the upper extremity (shoulder, arm, forearm,
hand)
3) Identify the muscles of each compartment of the arm and
forearm
4) Identify the arteries and veins that serve the upper
extremity
5) Define the boundaries and contents of the axilla
6) Identify various upper extremity structures through their
surface anatomy
7) Explain the parts of the brachial plexus
8) Describe the motor and sensory innervation from each
main branch of the brachial plexus
9) Predict the type of condition/impairment caused by nerve
damage to main branches of brachial plexus
10) Understand the role of the tissues that makeup the
upper limb—bone, cartilage, tendon, ligament, muscle,
nerve
11) Understand how joints work
12) Know the classification of joints
