Trousdale County Schools Weekly Lesson Plan Teacher: Canaan Bowman Pacing Guide Week #: 13 Dates: 11/4 – 11/8 5 days Subject: Geometry Common Core Standard(s) to be taught: (Write the entire standard) CCSS G.CO.7 – Use the definition of congruence in terms of rigid motions to show that two triangles are congruent if and only if corresponding pairs of sides and corresponding pairs of angles are congruent CCSS G.CO.8 – Explain how the criteria for triangle congruence (ASA, SAS, and SSS) follow from the definition of congruence in terms of rigid motions CCSS G.CO.10 – Prove theorems about triangles. Theorems include: measures of interior angles of a triangle sum to 180 degrees; base angles of an isosceles triangle are congruent; the segment joining the midpoints of two sides of a triangle is parallel to the third side and half the length; the medians of a triangle meet at a point SPI(s) to be taught: (Write the entire SPI) SPI 3108.4.12 – Solve problems involving congruence, similarity, proportional reasoning and/or scale factor of two similar figures or solids. Daily practice activity for citing text based evidence in conversation and/or writing: I Can Statements : Student Agenda: I can use triangle congruence theorems and postulates to Posted daily but NOT included in Lesson Plan solve problems. Assessment Strategies (for Stage 1 teachers ONLY): Assessment used to determine mastery daily: If a quiz or test is given, include in the Teacher’s Lesson Plan Notebook. Instructional Materials (for Stage 1 teachers ONLY): All instructional materials are to be included in the Teacher’s Lesson Plan Notebook. Instruction: In outline form, describe each day of instruction. Day 1 1st Block - Bellringer – Isosceles Triangles - Ch. 4 Review (pg. 273-275) - PLAN Practice 2nd Block - Bellringer – Review Congruence Basics and Isosceles Triangles - Ch. 4 Test - HL Theorem/Problems - PLAN Practice Formative Assessment: Bellringer Day 2 PLAN Test PLAN Test Day 3 1st Block - Bellringer – Review Congruence Basics and Isosceles Triangles - Ch. 4 Test -HL Theorem/Problems 2nd Block - Bellringer – pg. 283 – Writing exercise – relating architecture to geometry - Midsegment Discovery Lab (writing about math) Ch. 4 Test Day 4 Bellringer Bellringer – (1st block – pg. 283 picture, 2nd block – midsegments) Lesson 5-1 and 5-2 Notes/Guided Practice Group work (problems from textbook) Independent Practice/HW Ch. 4 Review – assess students’ cumulative understanding of chapter Ch. 4 Test Bellringer - assess students abilities to relate geometry to real-life applications Midsegment Discovery Lab Questioning during guided practice Exit Ticket 1 Day 5 Bellringer – Review Midsegments, Angle Bisectors, and Perpendicular Bisectors Quiz – Midsegments, Angle Bisectors, and Perpendicular Bisectors Paper Folding Bisectors Activity (pg. 300) Bellringer Quiz – assess students understanding of concepts covered thus far in Chapter 5 Paper Folding Bisectors – assesses students’ understanding of the more basic concepts of geometry while giving them a hands-on learning experience to discover something more complex Day 6 Day 7 Alternate Instructional Interventions: Provide a specific plan for alternate instructional interventions, or re-teaching. On B days, the end of class will be used to re-address any material with which students show difficulty in understanding. Students will be allowed to re-take quizzes that they scored poorly on using InteractMath to improve their grade and gain more exposure to the content. Instructional technologies to enhance learning: List how each will enhance the effectiveness of the lesson. InteractMath website will be used for students to improve quiz grades and gain more exposure to the content in a one-on-one environment while also giving the students more responsibility over their own learning. KUTA Software will be used to practice and assess skill-based problems 2
