Figure 1. The overall reporting timeliness of National
Notifiable Infectious Diseases (NNID) in
Provincial Health Departments and District Health
Centers by year.
Note 1. Tuberculosis, Hansen's disease, AIDS, diseases for sentinel surveillance or
pathogen surveillance were excluded.
2. Data of year 2007 were provisional (as of 30 September)

Figure 2. The overall reporting timeliness by diseases group
and year.
Note 1. Classification of NNID (Group characteristics and lists)
Group 1: Immediate control measures needed (Cholera, Typhoid fever,
Shigellosis, etc)
Group 2: Vaccine preventable diseases (Measles, Mumps, Rubella,
Varicella, etc)
Group 3: Monitoring and public campaign needed (Malaria, Scrub typhus,
Brucellosis, etc)
Group 4: Emerging diseases in Korea (Dengue fever, Q fever, etc)
2. Tuberculosis, Hansen's disease, AIDS, diseases for sentinel surveillance or
pathogen surveillance were excluded.

-: No reported cases.
N: Not notifiable.
Cum: Cumulative counts of the year from 1st week to current week.
EHEC : Enterohemorrhagic Escherichia coli.
HFRS: Hemorrhagic fever with renal syndrome.
* Incidence data for reporting years 2007 and 2008 are provisional, whereas data for 2003, 2004, 2005, and 2006 are finalized.
Reported cases contain all case classifications (Confirmed, Suspected, Asymptomatic carrier) of the disease respectively.
Excluding Hansen's disease and diseases reported through the Laboratory Surveillance System and Sentinel Surveillance System (Data for Sentinel Surveillance System
are available in Table III) and no case reported since 2003 (Yellow fever, Marburg fever, Ebola fever, Lassa fever, African Trypanosomiasis, Schistosomiasis, Yaws,
Pinta, Smallpox, Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome, Avian influenza infection in humans, Tularemia, and Newly everging infectious disease syndrome)
Calculated by summing the incidence counts for the current week, the 2 weeks preceding the current week, and the 2 weeks following the current week, for a total of 5
preceding years. (In case of Varicella, used data for 2 years - 2006 and 2007, because of being designated as of July 13, 2005)
