Weather is the condition of the air at a certain time and place
It may be hot or cold, rainy or dry, sunny or cloudy, windy or calm
The weather changes from day to day

Every place has a pattern of weather over many years called climate

Two Parts of Climate
Different parts of our state have different climates
Temperature measures how hot or cold the air is
The usual afternoon temperature in Albany may be 84℉ in July
In January, the afternoon temperature may only ready 30℉
Precipitation is the moisture that falls to the ground
It may be in the form of rain, snow, sleet or hail

Sometimes our state gets strong storms
Huge, windy rainstorms called hurricanes form over the ocean.
They can strike Long Island and cause damage
A blizzard is a snowstorm with very strong winds
