Chopin
Frédéric François Chopin (1810-1849) was a Polish composer and virtuoso pianist. He is considered the great
master of Romantic music and one of the greatest musicians of all time. Chopin was born in Żelazowa Wola, a
village in the Duchy of Warsaw.

Schubert and opera
Franz Peter Schubert (1797-1828) was an Austrian composer. In a short lifespan of just nearly 32 years,
Schubert was a prolific composer, writing some 600 Lieder, nine symphonies, liturgical music, operas, some
incidental music, and a large body of chamber and solo piano music.

Opera (plural: operas) is an art form in which singers and musicians perform a dramatic work combining text
(called a libretto) and musical score, usually in a theatrical setting. Opera incorporates many of the elements
of spoken theatre, such as acting, scenery, and costumes and sometimes includes dance. The performance is
typically given in an opera house, accompanied by an orchestra or smaller musical ensemble.

West Side Story is an American musical with a book by Arthur Laurents, music by Leonard Bernstein, lyrics by
Stephen Sondheim, and conception and choreography by Jerome Robbins. It was inspired by William
Shakespeare's play Romeo and Juliet. The original 1957 Broadway production was in 1957.

Trimpin (1951- ) is a Seattle, Washington-based kinetic sculptor, sound artist, musician, and composer, most

to play these instruments.
