Transcript
Zeus(Jupiter)
• Parents: Kronos and Rhea
• Sphere of Influence: King all of Greece, Olympus, and
Heaven
• Attributes: King of the gods, weather, law, order and
fate; always had a lighting bolt, royal sceptre, and an
eagle
• Birth Place: Diktaion cave, nursed by Amaltheia and
guarded by the shield-clashing Kouretes
• Place favored: Mount Olympus
Pre 475 A.D.
• I chose this picture from before
475 A.D. because it showed
almost all of his attributes in one
picture. He is seen with his
lightning bolt and his eagle. The
way that he is presented
describes the way the ancient
Greeks did; a mature man that is
a king. In the eyes of the ancient
Greeks, he is the king of the gods
and the one that can take
everything all away; the Greeks
revered him because of this. To
wrap things up, Zeus is the king
and will always be king.
Modern Art
• I chose this picture from modern
art because it just looked like what
people would think of when they
think of Zeus. Since he is king of
the gods, he would need to be fit
and strong. Going along with the
subject, he was always depicted as
an aged man that looked like a
king. This picture certainly shows
that description. In the end,
whenever people think of Zeus,
they see a strong, mature man that
is all-powerful and all-knowing.
