Adventure Base Camp Activities and Learning Objectives
Improving self confidence, enhancing communication skills, developing decision making skills, promoting trust,
improving physical fitness, teaching conflict-resolution, teaching leadership development, increasing individual
responsibility, developing groups cohesion and building awareness of the group process.
Adventure Base Camp Zip Line: Reaching speeds of nearly 30 mph… participants will conquer their fears by flying
through the air 20 feet off the ground.
Teambuilding Course: The low ropes course consists of several elements that are built from 6 inches to twelve feet
off the ground. These elements focus on teambuilding, communication, problem-solving, leadership, and trust.
Elements include: TP Shuffle, Wild Woozy, Spider’s Web, Trust Fall, Triangle Tension Traverse, Skiis, A-Frames,
Nitro Crossing, Towers of Hanoi and Islands.
Aerial Park: Positioned 25 feet off the ground, harnessed participants complete this high ropes circuit of 4-8
obstacles suspended between the trees. Everyone will need to help encourage and coach each other as some will
find the obstacles more difficult than others. The group will build a trust relationship while working on conflict
resolution and gaining camaraderie while participating in the challenging activity.
Giant Swings: One participant at a time will be harnessed to a giant pendulum. The others in the group assist by
hoisting the participant to the launch height. The participant pulls the release cord and swings through the air. The
group can rotate being the swinging participant. The group will gain a sense of teamwork by working together
pulling the participant into position. Communication and self confidence will be the main learning objectives.
Rock Climbing: Whether on our manmade wall or a real rock face, climbing will help build individual confidence
while also building the sense of team in the group. Team members will observe, encourage and verbally assist the
climbers as they reach for their goals.
Geronimo: This element will push participants to their limits. After scaling a tree, each will take a leap of faith and
jump from 40 feet off of a platform to land safely on the ground. This should be done towards the end of a retreat,
after a group has built up trust. It is a great way to celebrate what the group has accomplished.
Rock Hike: Scaling over 950 feet towards the summit of Club Getaway’s Segar Mountain, the entire group will
challenge themselves on this vigorous hike. The group will benefit by building awareness of the group process,
improving self confidence and developing the cohesion of the group. You may only travel at the pace of the
slowest person forcing the group to demonstrate their communication skills.
Survivor Hike: A less strenuous version of the Rock Hike but still rewarding. It draws on the same skills and
elements as the Rock Hike but at a lower altitude.
Geo-Caching: Geo-caching is an outdoor treasure hunt using a GPS unit. Caches are hidden in historic areas and
have puzzles as the objectives. The group will need to use problem solving skills and work together to achieve
success in finding the cache and completing the goals.
Photo Quest: Photo quest is a modern day Scavenger Hunt using smart tablets. In small groups, participants use
this technology to accomplish a series of goals/ tasks presented through our custom app on the smart tablets. It is
a fun way to promote teamwork and communication.
Night Hike: A sensory hike in the woods taking place after the sun as gone down forces the groups to trust each
other and builds awareness of the group process. The group will need to make decisions together and help each
other as your eyes adjust to the darkness.
