alcohol is abused. Permanently mounted life-size, hand-painted models
are graphic and accurate. Each model is described in easy-to-understand
terms. Contained within its own sturdy carrying case. 28" x 27" opened.

cardiovascular, and digestive systems. It shows the process of alcohol
absorption and its effect on the liver. The chart also explains the
reproductive side effects of alcohol, including risks to an unborn baby. It

Pair of spectacles with lenses designed to simulate the effect created by
alcohol and other drugs. The result is a realistic sensation of dizziness,
reduced and eye coordination and a diminished ability to perform motor
tasks. Suggested use with condom demonstrator models.
DW Eyes Game Kit (with goggles)
Wearers of the D.W.eyes goggles experience the visual distortion, loss
of perception, and lack of control that make drunk drivers so dangerous.
No specific blood alcohol concentration is represented. Role-playing
games use the goggles to make drunk driving consequences more
realistic. Game kit includes two pairs of D.W.eyes goggles, instructional
DVD, Wreck Your Life game, teacher's guide with reproducible handouts, and some 16-page booklets.
Heavy drinking: how alcohol's calories add up
Alcohol drinks can have a major impact on your diet and this display
explains just how much. The six glasses in the display are labelled to
show how many calories are in popular alcohol drinks and how many of
those calories come from fat, carbohydrates, and alcohol. Included tent
card explains how alcohol drinks can have as many calories as common
foods and how quickly alcohol calories can add up while enjoying a nice
lunch or watching a football match with friends. Tent card is two-sided
and measures 22 cm x 28 cm. Glasses are 24 cm in circumference and
18 cm tall.
What is a unit display
The five 3-D models in this display are designed to help people
understand how many units there are in popular alcoholic drinks. The
beer glass, wine glass, cocktail glass, whisky glass, and alcopop clearly
demonstrate that the number of units can add up quickly. Each glass
shows how much of the beverage constitutes one unit as well as how
many total units are in the glass. Comes with a 25 cm x 38 cm display
board that looks like a serving tray, provides places for each of the
models to rest, and contains further information.

Hypertension [chart]
This chart defines blood pressure and hypertension and discusses
types, causes, and common symptoms of this condition. The chart
defines and illustrates the potential complications of hypertension which
affect the brain, eye, blood vessels, kidney, and heart.
Occluded artery
This model of a human artery dramatically demonstrates how severe plaque build-up
can restrict blood flow, and sometimes block the artery altogether. Turn the model
over to see how plaque build-up can restrict blood flow. This condition forces the heart
to pump harder and may cause a heart attack in real life.
Occluded artery (deluxe)
The potentially deadly effects of high cholesterol are demonstrated by these two
transparent tubes. One tube represents an artery constricted by plaque, which forms
on artery walls when there is excess cholesterol in the blood. The other tube
represents a healthy artery without any plaque. Turn the model over to see how
plaque build-up can restrict blood flow in the constricted artery which slows or stops
completely, and contrast it with the blood flow in the healthy artery. An excellent tool
for explaining the importance of keeping cholesterol under control.
Understanding stroke [chart]
This chart provides essential information regarding stroke. Explains and
illustrates stroke, including the two main types: ischemic and
hemorrhagic. For ischemic stroke, shows common sites of plaque
formation, formation of a thrombus and embolus. For hemorrhagic
strokes, illustrates brain with intracerebral hemorrhage and ateriovenous
malformation (AVM). Shows Circle of Willis with aneurysm and crosssection of brain with subarachnoid hemorrhage, arterioles and

many children's diets. Informative tent card lists the health problems caused
by too much sugar, provides facts
about the scope of the problem, and includes tips for limiting adding

process of insulin production by the pancreas, which in turn affects
glucose conversion to energy. Describes the importance of controlling the
level of glucose in the blood and provides the main techniques for doing
so.
Understanding type 2 diabetes [chart]
This chart defines type 2 diabetes and the role of glucose and insulin in
the body. Lists symptoms, risk factors and ways to control the disease.
This revised chart shows glucose molecules from the digestive system
and insulin molecules from the pancreas traveling in a blood vessel.
Visually compares a normal body cell to a body cell with diabetes,
illustrating when the cell develops a resistance to insulin, making it more
difficult for glucose to enter the cell, ultimately leading to build up of
glucose in the blood vessel. Textually and visually presents complications
from the disease: Heart disease, stroke, vascular disease, nerve damage
(neuropathy), kidney disease (nephropathy), periodontal disease (gum
disease and mouth infection), and eye disease such as glaucoma,
cataracts and diabetic retinopathy.
