Fast Food Nutrition Lesson
Objective: Use the Internet and spreadsheets to find calories and fat in a typical fast food meal and compare with
different restaurants.
A. Decide which 2 fast food restaurants you would like to visit. Use the web addresses below, copy and paste the
web address into your internet search engine.
McDonald's: http://www.mcdonalds.com/app_controller.nutrition.index1.html
Burger King: http://www.bk.com/
Wendy's: http://www.wendys.com/the_menu/nut_frame.html
Other: http://nutritiondata.self.com/
(This site allows you to search many fast food restaurant sites.)
B. Once you have decided on a Fast Food Restaurant. Plan a meal plan a meal with a sandwich, salad or other
main dish, a side dish (French fries, etc), a drink, and a dessert.
For each item on your menu, record the

The calories from fat
Total fat
Sodium
C. Take your meal you planned with the nutrition information you got and put it on a spreadsheet
as shown. Open up Microsoft Office and click on Excel.

*Just for your information a healthy way of eating is consuming about 2000 or fewer calories in one day. Your daily Total Fat
intake should be less than 65g and your daily Sodium should be less than 2,400g.

1. You will need to highlight/select all your information
2. Then click on insert at the top of your toolbar.
