Bob Cla rk is a 70-year old client who ha d a total hip replacement today:
he is now on the orthopedic unit in stable cond ition. M r. Cla rk ha d ·
been having pa in in h is h ip for the ·past 6 mont h s and took NSAI Ds for
pain. He has a history of hypertension that is treated wit h a
combination a ntihypertensive diu retic drug. He also takes a
m ultivitamin daily. in daily. He has been using a walker for the last 2
mont hs to help him ambulate. M r. Cla rk a lso has presbycusis, an age
related hearing loss. M r. Cla rk has an ord er for morphine 2 mg IV q4h prn.
He had a dose 30 minutes ago. Jared Carr is a student nurse who has
been assigned to M r. Cla rk. Jared assesses M r. Clark a nd finds that h is
pa i n is now rated a 3 on a sca le of 1to 10. He has a n IV r unning at 100
