Incorporated Standards and Connections to other Standards
These units were written to build upon concepts from prior units, so later units contain tasks that depend upon the concepts addressed in earlier units.
All units will include the Mathematical Practices and indicate skills to maintain. Standards of Major Clusters are in Green
NOTE: Mathematical standards are interwoven and should be addressed
throughout the year in as many different units and tasks as possible in
order to stress the natural connections that exist among mathematical
topics.

Grade 7
Grade 6 and 7 Overview
Ratios and Proportional Reasoning
In addition to identifying the Major, Additional and Supporting Clusters for each grade,
suggestions are given following in the PARCC Guidance documents for ways to connect the
Supporting to the Major Clusters of the grade/course. Thus, rather than suggesting even
inadvertently that some material not be taught, there is direct advice for teaching it, in ways
that foster greater focus and coherence.
■ Major Content; Supporting Content; Additional Content. Not all CCSSM
content standards in a listed domain or cluster are assessed.
Analyze proportional relationships and use them to solve realworld and mathematical problems.
The Number System
Grade 6
Apply and extend previous understandings of operations with
fractions to add, subtract, multiply and divide rational
numbers.
Ratios and Proportional Reasoning
Expressions and Equations
Understand ratio concepts and use ratio reasoning to solve problems.
The Number System
Apply and extend previous understandings of multiplication and division to
divide fractions by fractions.
Compute fluently with multi-digit numbers and find common factors and multiples.
Apply and extend previous understandings of numbers to the system of rational
numbers.
Expressions and Equations
Apply and extend previous understandings of arithmetic to algebraic expressions.
Reason about and solve one-variable equations and inequalities.
Represent and analyze quantitative relationships between dependent and
independent variables.
Use properties of operations to generate equivalent expressions.
Solve real-life and mathematical problems using numerical and
algebraic expressions and equations.
Geometry
Draw, construct and describe geometrical figures and describe the
relationships between them.
Solve real-life and mathematical problems involving angle
measure, area, surface area and volume.
Statistics and Probability
Use random sampling to draw inferences about a population.
Draw informal comparative inferences about two populations.
Geometry
Solve real-world and mathematical problems involving area, surface area and
volume.
Statistics and Probability
Develop understanding of statistical variability.
Summarize and describe distributions.
