Peloponnesian War Propaganda Project
Imagine that you are part of a Greek city-state during the Peloponnesian War.
Both Sparta and Athens want you to join their side. Which side will you join?
Directions: Choose ONE of the two projects to complete in class today.
1. Draw a Propaganda Poster
Imagine that you are part of Athens OR Sparta during the Peloponnesian War. Create
a poster that convinces other city-states to join your side and/or makes fun of/ slams
the other city-state convincing people NOT to join the opposite side.
Make sure your poster includes the following information:
 Are you Athens or Sparta?
 Type of government of the city-state
 Values of the city-state
o What is important to them? Ex. Education, military, women
 Slogan
o Short memorable phrase used to promote your city-state
 Illustrations
2. Write a Propaganda Commercial
Imagine that you are part of Athens OR Sparta during the Peloponnesian War. Write a
commercial script that convinces other city-states to join your side and/or makes fun of
/ slams the other city-state convincing people NOT to join the opposite side.
Make sure your commercial includes the following information:
 Are you Athens or Sparta?
 Type of government of the city-state
 Values of the city-state
o What is important to them? Ex. Education, military, women
 Slogan
o Short memorable phrase used to promote your city-state
