REGISTRATION FOR FALL 2017
Registration for Fall 2017 is Monday, April 3 – Friday, April 7.
Summer Biochemistry
The Chemistry Department intends to offer CHEM 460 (Physical Biochemistry) during Summer Session I
2017 (May 15-June23), by permission of instructor. The class will meet every day of the week during
that time (1000-1150 MTThF, plus Wed lab), and students in the course will generally not be allowed to
do undergraduate summer research at the same time. We really want to hear from interested
students so that we can plan whether to offer the course. Students who are interested in taking the
course should send the course permission request form to Jeff Grinstead [email protected]).
The permission form can be found on our department web page under course material.

DEADLINE FOR SUMMER RESEARCH PROPOSALS IS MARCH 8TH.
INTERESTED IN RESEARCH DURING 2017-2018?
CHEM 490 (Senior Thesis) is required for the Chemistry (BS) degree and encouraged for the other chemistry
degrees (Chemistry BA, Biochemistry, and Natural Science) if you are planning on graduate work. The research
contract for CHEM 490 (Senior Thesis) is due by the last day of classes (May 3 2017--turn them in to the
chemistry office). Please use coming months to meet with chemistry faculty to select a research advisor and a
project for your last year.
CHEM 390 (Directed Research) may be taken for up to 1 unit per semester. It is an excellent opportunity to
experience the research process. Please talk with the chemistry faculty about ideas for ongoing research
projects. A research contract must be completed for each semester of CHEM 390 research.
