The Artifact: Camp Meeting Engraving Artifact
Tell our audience about the artifact.
An amazing historical artifact was discovered in an attic. It is a image about
Lorenzo Dow who was a Methodist evangelical preacher. The image was was created
by Lossing-Barrett the year:N/A It was made because the author wanted to create
an image about the famous preacher Lorenzo Dow who was knowed for his fiery
speeches and the emotional reactions of his listeners.
People who would have read or studied this item at the time it was created were
religious people who thought his speeches were inspirational and they also
wanted to know how his speeches gave the listeners such an emotional reaction.
It is worth studying today because:It history and it tells us about people in the
past and how many of there ideas influenced the society we live in today

The event that this artifact best relates to was the Second Great Awakening.
This happened around the years 1790 – 1840
One reason this event occurred was because: Many people felt their churches and
religious leaders needed more excitement and inspirational sermons

People participated in this event through three main ways:
1. Going to church
2. Participation in meetings or Revivals
3. Shared there religion or try converting other people

Tennent,George Whitefield.
Many participants were women because many women took this chance to fight for
social reform and give women more rights

Social reform is A social reform movement is a group of people working toward making a
change through law to improve the community
Social reform relates to this event because during the 2nd awakening many
people participate in social reform in a effort to change society to what they
thought as better.
An example of a social reform directly related to the antislavery movement and
the women right movement is an example of social reform because it was issues
that many people believed were socially wrong and needed to be changed.
