Directions
Based on who you were paired with in Mr. Letendre’s science class, you will create a brochure to
help market your invention by researching how it was used in the ancient world. Today, you will
begin to research the purpose behind some of these inventions, how they were used, and the
influence they had on Greek/Roman culture. Next week, I will show you what the brochure should
include and how it should look, but for now, please focus on collecting all of the information you
need in order to build a compelling argument that explains how these advancements were made.

STEP #3
Whenever you quote, paraphrase, or take notes on someone else’s work, you should keep track of the
sources the information came from. This will help you avoid plagiarism when you begin writing.
You can keep track of your sources in a few different ways:
•
Place the author’s name in parentheses after quoted or paraphrased text.
•
Organize your notes under headings with the source information.
•
If using note cards to keep track of information, write the source of the information on
the back of each card.
In addition to the above, you should also create a bibliography.
