Diverse
Applications
Versatile building material
with proven performance
County Materials’ Hollowcore Systems offer an efficient and economical solution
for applications that require high load capacities, long spans and reduced building
heights. Hollowcore’s strength is enhanced from pretensioned steel strands
embedded in high strength concrete. Continuous voids reduce the planks overall
weight without sacrificing strength. Prestressed plank are used in conjunction with
columns and beams to serve as both a ready-made sub floor and a ceiling for an
unlimited number of project applications.
Experience you can trust
County Materials’ experienced drafting professionals get involved early in the
planning stages to assist you from start to finish. We provide comprehensive
estimates, detailed drawings, scheduling and proper installation methods for a
successful project.
Our manufacturing plant is certified by the Precast/Prestressed Concrete
Institute. With year-round production cycles, County Materials produces
plank of uniform quality and tight tolerances that meets efficient production
schedules. Field installation is performed by an experienced erection crew
to complete the final step in our commitment to ensuring your complete
satisfaction and product performance.

Speed up the construction schedule
Maximize Space
Hollowcore helps maximize the construction process and meet project
timelines. County Materials’ manufacturing facility produces plank year-round
in a climate-controlled facility. Components are custom made per job and
delivered to the site ready to be installed, in nearly any weather.
Subterranean construction requires
special considerations for which County
Materials’ Hollowcore, corbel columns
and inverted tee beams are particularly
well suited. On typical subterranean
construction sites with limited space,
Hollowcore plank provides ease
of installation.
Hollowcore plank also offers ease of installation and is compatible with other
building materials, including concrete masonry, steel framing and cast-inplace wall systems. Planks are sawed to specified lengths for each project,
accommodating plans with unique angles and curves. Hollowcore eliminates
the need for extra load-bearing columns and beams or interior walls, and
creates large, open spaces with unobstructed ceilings. Depth requirements
for each project are dependent upon plank spans and loading requirements.
Hollowcore can sustain added concrete topping and roof loads, as well as
loading requirements for partition walls, tile and stone floors, and even
masonry fireplaces.
Once installed and grouted, Hollowcore provides an immediate work deck
and protected space that accommodates other trades, from heating and airconditioning, to plumbing and electrical. Required openings can be pre-cut
prior to shipping, while the respective trades provide smaller, field-cut notches.
Anchoring and fastening piping and conduit to Hollowcore plank is no more
difficult than it is with other systems, and is often easier and less expensive
because of the hollow cores.
As demand for more multi-unit housing
on smaller urban lots increases,
developers must also maximize onsite
usable space with underground parking,
mechanical and electrical rooms and
additional storage. Ceiling heights from
10-16’ can be achieved with 1- to 4-way
adjustable corbel columns. Not only do
they help to reduce a building’s overall
height, but they can be used to install
plank up to a 5-story building with a
single column height.
Added to this, Hollowcore saves precious
outdoor space for aesthetic use and
provides a multi-functional,
insulated division
between garage and first
floor living spaces.

More for the money
Projects that are finished faster mean
a better return on investment. Earlier
occupancy generates revenue sooner
and helps ensure better sale and resale
values. In the long run, Hollowcore can
also add up to more savings through
reduced maintenance costs and lower
fire insurance rates. Surfaces do not
deteriorate over time, and they resist
damage from fire, people, termites,
rodents and even Mother Nature.
Additional savings can be realized
because of Hollowcore’s uniform
finished top and bottom surfaces.
Texture can easily be sprayed on
exposed ceilings, or drop-ceiling
tiles can be installed with no other
finishing required. Carpet or other floor
coverings can also be installed with
minimal preparation.

Quiet, safe and
secure living
environments
Severe weather, fire and mold may
threaten lesser building materials, but
Hollowcore helps keep people safe
and possessions protected. Made of high-strength, steel-reinforced concrete,
Hollowcore is virtually decay-proof, maintaining its structural integrity and
resisting insects, mold and fire. Hollowcore does not burn – meeting fire ratings
of up to three hours. It won’t give off lethal fumes and smoke, or fuel fire. A
multi-family structure built with Hollowcore, combined with masonry or poured
concrete dividing walls, meets fire and noncombustible ratings. Residents and
building owners will appreciate the sense of security and permanence offered
by a structure that is solidly built.
Tenants of multi-family housing enjoy the added benefit of quieter living
environments. Hollowcore greatly reduces sound transmission coming through
floors and ceilings in any building to increase the comfort of residents.
Building Green
Concrete is safe, dependable and one of the world’s most commonly used
building materials. Added to that, it’s inert and made from abundant, natural
materials, making it an environmentally sound choice with sustainable benefits.
Hollowcore Roof and Floor Systems from County Materials are extremely durable,
resisting fire, mold, decay, termites and even severe weather. Today, more
industry professionals are choosing Hollowcore for high quality structures with
enhanced energy efficiency, safety, comfort and reduced lifetime building costs.
