Lutz Bettels re-joined Bentley Systems in 2007 and is currently European vice president of
manufacturing and facilities. He is responsible for helping Fortune 500 companies and industrial owneroperators improve their planning, engineering, collaboration, and asset reliability processes and
workflows.
These companies include those in the automotive, aerospace, steel, discrete manufacturing, mining,
pharmaceutical and chemical, oil and gas, pulp and paper, as well as machinery and equipment
industries. Bettels also works with general owner-operators of airports, retailers, banks and insurances,
and owners of major event facilities to streamline their facility planning and management processes.
In addition, he advises Bentley users on the software required to deliver projects on time and on budget,
mitigate project risk, foster collaboration among stakeholders, seamlessly handover information from
CAPEX to OPEX, and ensure accuracy and actuality of the information model in operations and
maintenance throughout the entire lifecycle of any facility or asset.
Bettels holds a master’s degree in computer science and has 25+ years of experience in the building and
engineering IT industry.
