Why should you attend this group? Eating Disorder Service We are bombarded by information about nutrition and unfortunately much of this information is inaccurate and misleading. If you require further information, we can be contacted on: This education group will give you the opportunity to learn the truth about nutrition and separate fact from fiction. The group is facilitated by a dietitian who is an expert in nutrition. The dietitian will help you discover what a healthy diet is and the steps you can you can take to help overcome your eating disorder. What is the appropriate amount of exercise? The sessions may include…. These have been put together to support any changes in your eating pattern, and will form part of your treatment within the eating disorder service. n How to re establish a regular eating pattern. You are expected to attend 6 weekly sessions. The sessions will: Should I avoid carbohydrates? What are the dangers of using laxatives? As part of your treatment, you have been invited to attend our nutrition education sessions… You can find the answers to these questions in our nutrition sessions. n Run as a ‘closed group’. This means there will be a set number of members in the group and no new members can join when the group starts. n Educate you about food and nutrition. There will be no pressure on you to speak although you can contribute to discussions and ask questions if you feel comfortable doing so. n Be facilitated by a dietitian who is an expert in nutrition. n What a healthy diet consists of. n Overcoming distortions of hunger and fullness sensations. n Nutrition and metabolism - what determines your body weight and calorie needs. n The role of individual nutrients and their food sources. n Effects of deficiencies of individual nutrients. n What is a food portion.
