Noun Markers
Three words warn you that a NOUN is
coming

At a railroad crossing, flashing red lights
warn that a train is coming.
NOUN markers warn you that a NOUN is
coming.
Nouns
NOUNS name a person, place, thing, or idea.
Road signs that have important information
are yellow.
NOUNS carry important information in a
sentence. Almost every sentence has a
NOUN.
Verbs
A VERB shows action. It shows what a
NOUN is doing.
Road signs that have very important
information on them are orange.
VERBS are very important in a sentence.
Every sentence must have a VERB.
Prepositions
PREPOSITIONS show the relationship of
one thing to another.
Adjectives
An ADJECTIVE is a word that describes a
NOUN.
ADJECTIVES answer the following questions

What kind?
How many?
Which one?

Adverbs
An ADVERB is a word that describes a VERB.
It tells
talk quietly
how?
when? or
where?
the action takes place.

Pronouns
A PRONOUN takes the place of a NOUN. It
refers to a person, place, thing, or idea.
Linking Verbs
LINKING VERBS link or connect a subject
with a complement.
They do not show action.
The man is a dentist.
They are friends.
