Misalignment Detectors
 Are a group of temperature sensitive cells located in
the hypothalamus.
 Triggers homeostatic responses to maintain
temperature if the blood is not in it’s optimal range.
Disturbance Detectors
 Thermoreceptors in the skin, detect the temperature
in the external environment, and will initiate
regulatory responses before the core temperature is
affected.
 Evaporation: Conversion of liquid into a vapor form.
 Conduction: Transfer of thermal energy from particle
to another.
 Convection: Movement of heat between molecules in
liquids.
 Radiation: Heat emitted from a material, like an old
style radiator heater.
