BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY:

Conducts tests and experiments and analyzes results according to established protocol. Provides support to the
development and interpretation of research activities.
CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Conducts tests and experiments in support of a research project; evaluates results.

Documents and maintains data and performs preliminary analysis of findings; assists with development, modification and
validation of methods and procedures.

Provides recommendations as to effective use of laboratory facilities and allocation of research funds; ensures availability
of equipment and supplies for each phase of the project.

Researches available literature of relevant topics and prepares abstracts of articles to assist with the evaluation and
interpretation of data.

Summarizes data and develops visual materials used for reporting, presentations, manuscripts, grant proposals and
funding applications.

May attend meetings and conferences to conduct or assist with formal presentations of research methodology, finds and
conclusions.

May assist or train laboratory personnel in research methods, procedures and equipment.

May design and conduct independent research activities (i.e. tests, experiments, statistical analyses, etc.) in support of the
project.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

Supervision is received from an assigned supervisor.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED:

Functional supervision may be exercised over support staff.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field is necessary.
